About This Title

Hello everyone,

I'm ready to dive into a new study focus for the month, so as always I've put together a little pdf guide about what I'm planning to focus on!

This month's focus is: exploring depth in composition with a foreground, midground and background.

I explain the focus in more detail in the pdf guide that I've attached below

To help us explore this focus together, the art challenge for this month is to:

Draw a subject (a character or object) in the middle of a page, and then add a background behind them and a foreground in front of them.

Creating depth in our compositions helps to take a flat image and make it feel more three dimensional and alive, and a simple way to achieve depth with composition is to separate your art into three layers: a background, a midground, and a foreground.

Although this is a simple thing to do, it can often be really easy to forget to think about it when we're drawing, so I'm aiming to think about depth more intentionally this month.

For this month's challenge I think I’d like to draw a character walking through a village or a park, and I think that would give me lots of opportunities to add cute elements in the environment like flowers

I'll be filming my process of completing this activity next week, and sharing the real-time process without voiceover with all tiers, and a tutorial version with voiceover with Beautiful Bluebells.

Download below your PDF guide with some more information and an introduction to the topic.

And feel free to share your illustrations with us in the community chat here on Patreon!
