shinyheartbeats - HOTEL LEX - FLOOR 5 (26/?)

infoAbout This Title

You pull out the pocketwatch slowly and the Timekeeper holds out his hand to receive it.

"This," the Timekeeper hums, "this was what I heard... Yes, oh."

You drop the pocketwatch into his palm and for a moment, everyone is transfixed by it.

"It's in pain, it's lost." The Timekeeper pops it open and watches the dial spin. He looks up at you, little bits of steam erupting from behind the cloak.

"Its craftsmanship is simply splendid. The maker has entrusted it with a duty but," he taps the glass gently, "it is crying. It has lost its purpose and feels like it has failed. Perhaps it requires a new objective, a new goal, a new purpose."

He swiftly opens the case back and watches the cogwheels turning. He begins to disassemble it to clean each part.

"Such a glorious piece, you must tell me how you came into possession of it," the Timekeeper says, engrossed in his work.

Finally, the Baron gets up, walks over to stand next to you and observes the rapid movements of the machine at work. You tell the Timekeeper that you had found it lying beside a drawer of odd miscellaneous items. "Such a thing should not have just been found; it holds immense capability... to think it was left unattended."

You process his words. Indeed, it should have been just any ordinary pocketwatch when you snatched it up but... Then again, there have been objects that seem to do more than what they should be capable of. You think back to the ring you received, the rubber arm that had somewhat saved you, the button that had history, the glass prism at the store. It almost feels like someone is giving you hints, as if they are watching your every move- you can't finish the thought as the Baron opens his beak.

"Quite a unique piece," he says in a soft tone, feigning interest in its material. "The bit of soul left inside does seem rather special."

You swallow, unsure what the Baron meant.

"S-soul?" Emmett speaks your mind.

The Baron ignores him. "A fragment of a soul, desperate to reconnect with something. Quite... beautiful."

You are stunned by his words. Not once have you felt anything from the pocketwatch. Perhaps because you assumed it was just a compass, you never looked deeper into its mechanisms. You followed it because it seemingly led you back to the hotel.

"Azaliussss," the Timekeeper says, voice crackling with static as he draws out the 's,' "Please do not peer into belongings that are not yours."

"I know, I know." The Baron raises his hands while backing away slightly. "Just a thought..."

You feel intrigued by both of their statements.

> Ask the Timekeeper what it means to give the pocketwatch a new purpose.> Ask the Baron what he meant about the soul.
