Fran Bautistart - NPC Portrait #48: Colten Beasant
About This Title
He was captain of a duke's guard in a distant valley. He grew up and trained alongside the duke's son, with whom he forged a close bond. As they grew older, they fell in love, but their love was forbidden, so he stayed by his side and swore to protect him forever. When the duke died, and before his son could ascend the throne, during a hunt, one of the duchy's nobles betrayed them, murdering the heir and cutting out the knight's head. But just before dying, he cursed them all, driven by the rage of having seen his love murdered.
Since then, every year he roams for a month through the forests surrounding the duchy, hunting down all those who set foot outside the city, blaming them for the deaths and for having accepted traitors as rulers. As always, feel free to use the portrait in your TTRPG games. I've worked on it so you can use them easily on your Virtual Tabletop app.
