Cosa succede davvero dietro uno shooting con una delle ragazze più timide e delicate che abbia mai avuto davanti alla fotocamera?

Con Nerea anche una posa apparentemente semplice richiede tempo. La vedi ascoltare le indicazioni, provare, sorridere per l’imbarazzo, sistemarsi e ripartire; poi guardi la fotografia che nasce pochi secondi dopo e sembra quasi impossibile che dietro ci fosse tutta quella attenzione.

Lei aveva scelto di mettersi in gioco, questo era chiarissimo, ma la sua timidezza non sparisce appena iniziamo a fotografare. Rimane lì anche quando lo shooting diventa più audace, e nel backstage si percepisce bene quanto ogni piccolo passaggio abbia bisogno dei suoi tempi.

Il video parte dal primo glamour e arriva fino al momento in cui cominciano a nascere le fotografie di Becoming, il suo primo vero set senza veli. E alcune delle immagini più belle che abbiamo realizzato quel giorno arrivano proprio mentre la videocamera continua a registrare.

What really happens behind a photoshoot with one of the shyest and most delicate girls I have ever had in front of my camera?

With Nerea, even an apparently simple pose takes time. You see her listening to directions, trying, smiling through a little embarrassment, adjusting herself and starting again; then you look at the photograph created just a few seconds later and it almost seems impossible that so much attention went into it.

She had chosen to challenge herself, that was very clear, but her shyness does not simply disappear once we start shooting. It remains there even as the session becomes bolder, and throughout the backstage you can really see how every small step needs its own time.

The video begins with the first glamour shots and continues until the photographs of Becoming, her first true set without veils, begin to take shape. And some of the most beautiful images we created that day were made while the video camera was still recording.

Buongiorno miei carissimi FANATICs!

Riguardando questo backstage mi sono ricordato molto bene una sensazione che avevo durante lo shooting con Nerea: prima di proporle alcune pose mi chiedevo spesso se sarebbero state davvero nelle sue corde.

Nerea è molto riservata e non è mai diventata improvvisamente disinvolta solo perché eravamo sul set. Anche quando accettava di provare qualcosa di nuovo, quella sua timidezza rimaneva visibile nei gesti, nel modo in cui cercava la posizione e perfino in certi sorrisi un po’ imbarazzati.

Per questo con lei ho parlato parecchio. Spiegavo cosa avevo in mente, le davo indicazioni semplici e cercavo soprattutto di non farle percepire alcuna fretta. In alcuni momenti mi è sembrato quasi di doverla coccolare fotograficamente, più con le parole che con le pose.

Alla fine ha scelto di provare tutte le fotografie che avevo immaginato. Guardando il video si vede bene quanto questo passaggio sia graduale: a volte basta una piccola indicazione, una risata o qualche secondo in più prima dello scatto, e subito dopo sul set nasce una fotografia completamente diversa.

Per me questo backstage è particolarmente importante proprio per questo. Le fotografie finite raccontano Becoming; qui invece potete vedere come ci siamo arrivati.

E per voi FANATICs sto preparando anche qualcosa in più.

Ho un’altra inquadratura dello stesso shooting, molto più veloce e concentrata quasi esclusivamente su Nerea e sulle pose, con molto meno spazio dedicato al processo e alla parte più tecnica. Ne sto preparando un montaggio separato che pubblicherò come Cinematic Extra.

Good morning my dear FANATICs!

Watching this backstage again brought back very clearly a feeling I often had during the shoot with Nerea: before suggesting certain poses, I sometimes found myself wondering whether they would really feel right for her.

Nerea is very reserved, and she did not suddenly become completely confident simply because we were on set. Even when she agreed to try something new, you could still see that shyness in her gestures, in the way she searched for the right position and even in some of those slightly embarrassed smiles.

That is why I talked to her a lot. I explained what I had in mind, gave her simple directions and, above all, tried not to make her feel rushed. At times I almost felt as though I had to coddle her photographically, more through words than through posing.

In the end, she chose to try all the photographs I had imagined. Watching the video, you can see how gradual that process really was: sometimes a small direction, a laugh or just a few extra seconds before the shot were enough for a completely different photograph to appear on set.

That is why this backstage is especially important to me. The finished photographs tell the story of Becoming; here you can actually see how we got there.

And for you FANATICs, I am also preparing something extra.

I have another angle from the same shoot, much faster and focused almost entirely on Nerea and her posing, with much less emphasis on the overall process and technical side. I am preparing a separate edit that I will publish as a Cinematic Extra.

That one will remain exclusive to FANATICs and will not be available in the Shop.
