[Important Notice] Upcoming Changes to My Workflow and Future Direction

---------------------------------------------------

[ EN, JP, KR ]

Hello everyone. Along with my deepest gratitude to all of you who always support me through comments, DMs, and more, I would like to share some deep personal reflections I’ve been having lately, as well as my resolution moving forward.

Over the past several months, after going through many emotional ups and downs, I fell into a deep slump. At some point, I forgot what I actually wanted to draw. Looking at myself mechanically churning out illustrations without any joy or excitement, I was heavily weighed down by a sense of doubt, constantly asking myself, "Why am I even doing this right now?"

Every time I publicly declared that I would try something new and picked up my pen with determination, I would soon find myself trapped in an old, outdated mindset: "This angle makes it too hard to create variations," "Anything other than popular angles or elements won't get a good response anyway, so let's just stick to the usual composition," or "I'm short on time again this month, so let's put off new ideas for next time."

Every time I resolved to draw something great, only to find myself compromising with the exact same plots and compositions I had seen somewhere before as the piece neared completion, it was dreadful.

Above all, the most dreadful and painful part is the fact that even when I truly brace myself to draw "what I want to draw," I simply cannot draw the way I used to—back when my art was clumsy and awkward, yet genuinely fun to create, with each piece holding its own unique charm. Blaming myself intensely for this, I am still going through a very painful time even at this very moment.

Because I loved drawing so much, I used to save up money bit by bit since I was young to buy my drawing tablets one by one—yet recently, even just looking at them became overwhelming. I broke down to the point where I seriously considered selling off all the equipment in front of me and focusing on a completely different path.

However, I could not put a complicated and troublesome burden on those who have trusted and supported me until now, as well as those who gratefully trusted me enough to pay in advance for months ahead. Above all, running away and disappearing like this was something my conscience and my affection for the art I have drawn so far simply could not accept. That is why I came to the conclusion that I do not want to give up completely just yet.

To overcome this deep stagnation and rediscover my true style and the joy of drawing, I want to make some important changes to my workflow starting from now.

First, starting next year, I plan to begin creating at least one "100% original personal work" every month.

Rather than fan art, I want to draw characters that do not yet exist in the world—characters filled with my own fantasies and my own stories.

Because of this, the monthly request works will inevitably be reduced from 3 pieces to 2 pieces per month.

Second, starting next month (November), the variations—which I used to mechanically produce by the hundreds for each piece—may be completely overhauled.

Each artwork file has become incredibly heavy, reaching tens of gigabytes. Unlike my current way of working—where I was tied down by variations and preoccupied with simply "padding the page count" to make it fit as a "product for sale" rather than focusing on the work's identity or originality—I now want to focus deeply on the unique identity and freshness of each individual piece.

In this process, the variations might be reduced to dozens, or perhaps even just a few pages per work. However, if I spend less time tied down to variations for a single piece, I believe I can use that freed-up time to spin the roulette one more time to draw a brand-new request, or draw more diverse works—whether that be original pieces or characters that inspire me in the moment.

Until now, I have relied on others' creations for my work. Moving forward, I want to break free from others' expectations, the rigid framework of efficiency, and being an artist who merely draws "art for sale." Just like when I first picked up a pen years ago, I want to move forward as an artist who purely draws "art with a story" and "art that I personally find beautiful."

Perhaps I won't be able to find my lost passion at all and might wander for a bit, and there may come a day when I am deeply disappointed in myself. However, crumbling like this without even trying anything would be the most miserable and painful choice of all.

I humbly ask that you watch over this clumsy new challenge with warm eyes as I take a step toward enjoying drawing again and finding my own true colors.

One thing I can promise for certain is that I will never suddenly disappear without any prior explanation. So please continue to enjoy my works with peace of mind, just as you do now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, as always.
