About This Title

Hey guys, happy belated Halloween!

As usual lately, I'm happy to report another productive couple of weeks. I mentioned last time that I was gonna be finishing up the animation for the first (very large) animated scene I've been working on for the update, and while it did take longer than expected, it is finally done! In the end it came to even more animations than the Lucy/Vicky threesome at the end of the last update, with a whopping 63. For context, that's more than the first three updates combined, just in one scene.

Beyond that, I've also knocked out another 100 regular renders, and started work on some of the remaining map and outfit creation needed for the update.

Outside of direct work on the game, I've also been grappling with a hardware issue recently in the form of replacing my monitors. One of the old ones that I've been making the game on since the beginning suddenly died, and I had the bright idea of replacing them with new OLEDs... Big mistake!

The colour and contrast difference compared to regular monitors is such that, without even realising, the work I was creating on them was just too dark when viewed on a regular monitor. The Misaki image set from the last dev log is a good illustration of the problem - all of the background detail disappears completely, and Misaki's dress just blends in to the darkness to form a big black wall for many of the people I've asked to check it for me. It's kinda disappointing, as they looked super nice when I made them:

So, I've abandoned the OLEDs and gone back to IPS monitors. It's a shame, as the OLEDs looked great, but that's no use if the work I create on them looks off for everyone else. In terms of the 0.15 content I made on them, there's about 3 weeks of rendering that have ended up looking slightly darker than I intended when making them, but fortunately they weren't nighttime shots like that Misaki example, so they're still perfectly viable. No re-dos needed, I'm happy to say!

Not sure how interesting that was for you guys to read, but I thought I may as well let you know what I've been up to! On another note, have you guys seen graphics card prices/availability recently? I follow it because it's actually quite relevant to the work we devs do, since we're constantly using them and in need of the best we can get. I got incredibly lucky buying a 5090 when they first came out, so I'm good personally (fingers crossed it has a nice long life with no failures!), but it's pretty grim for new devs coming up now.

And that's all I've got to say for this one! As usual, I've put together a custom render set based on a request from a month or two ago (sorry, I don't remember who requested it now) - DOWNLOAD LINK.

As always, thank you for your support, I truly appreciate it, and I'll speak to you again in another couple of weeks with another update!
