HellOnEarthIII - Placeholders

More from HellOnEarthIII HellOnEarthIII - St. Denis: Christmas season

About This Title

It took me far too long to get some basic placeholders done and start sketching things out, but I've decided to expand the project quite a bit in the process.

I've added a bunch of new mechanics, including grabs, jumps, object-kicking, finishers and plenty of other stuff. I've also implemented the surrender systm from RCG, alongside spray-painting and vending machines where you can get health items, charms, power-ups and bribes.

I've also been considering adding a mission system to the different scenarios, giving players a way to earn some extra money that they can then spend on minigames and other activities.

On top of that, I've added an interconnected open map with multiple stages, boss fights, an inventory system, a buddy assistance feature and a contacts system that allows you to call in one-off support during certain stages.

Story-wise, though, I'm still scratching my head over how to justify Cece/Mule beating up practically every clique in the school. I mean, I'vea lready got the miniboss and boss fights planned out, but the whole thing feels a bit too out of nowhere at the moment.

So far, my only excuse is to have Mason/Morrigan kidnapped. (Awful, I know) but at least it would tie things into the Rich Boy Blues arc.

Originally, I envisioned this as a way to play through the "Battle for the Library" arc, with players controlling either Cece or Mule throughout the campaign. The idea was to tell the story through cutscenes and dialogue, with several alternative endings depending on the player's choices.

Still, I'd really like to establish a proper foundation for this rather than just jumping straight into the story.

I might need a bit of time to finish replacing all the MS paint placeholders before putting together a public announcement about the project on Twitter.
