akairiot - Magic Sword / Blender Animation Practice (Original)
infoAbout This Title
I've been wanting to learn 3D animation in Blender for awhile now, and when I woke up yesterday with pretty bad nerve issues, it seemed like the perfect excuse to finally sit down and watch some tutorials. I then spent a few hours playing around with some royalty-free stuff from the Blendkit plugin (the sword, pillars, and stone/tile textures), set up a scene and lights, etc. I kept wanting to add more cool stuff, and every time I had an idea I didn't know how to do, I googled it and tried to figure it out -- that's how I ended up learning more about material animation, noise modifiers, particle emitters, turning cubes into fog, shutter speed and motion blur, different types of interpolation, and a bunch more stuff.
Sticking to the mouse and keyboard is a lot easier on my body (I can use my left hand for the mouse), so it's nice that 3D modeling and animation is something I can chip away at even when I'm feeling rough. I'm a long ways off from sculpting and rigging my own character models and animating hot anime women and epic battles and making a 3D Kelda with water hair physics, but I'll get there eventually, lol.
(also I can't upload videos directly to Patreon and this was way too big to make into a gif, so please check out the attachment if you wanna see it, thank you)
ALT TEXT
A 3D animation of a sword in a stone pedestal, surrounded by tall stone pillars. The sword's blade begins to glow blue and vibrate, shaking the camera, before it flies out of the pedestal and floats in the air, spinning and emitting particles of light. It rapidly slashes and spins at a few different angles, then hovers over the pedestal, spirals back down and embeds itself again, its glow fading.
