John Cameron Mitchell - L.A.dy Dior
About This Title
A year after we did the strange, dreamy Lady Grey London (2010) short, Dior asked if I wanted to do another one. This time I wanted to go somewhere completely different: full comedy. Enter L.A.dy Dior (2011).
Marion came back to play a diva having an absolute meltdown on a photo shoot in LA — surrounded by sycophants, a useless agent getting a massage while she spirals, the whole industry circus. Marion is a genius at playing someone falling apart with total glamour intact. The whole thing was inspired by an old Avedon behind-the-scenes clip of Lauren Hutton from the '70s — that specific flavor of beautiful chaos.
Thank you all for being here — it means a lot that you care enough about the weird corners of my work to dig in like this with me.
