Footyshoe.com - Footy Face Server 1.1 is online!
infoAbout This Title
Another day, another Footy update... apparently sleeping is optional when FM26 can still be improved. :)
Today Footy Face Server 1.1 is online.
This version is not just a few fixes. A big part of the code has been cleaned up, optimized and rebuilt into a much better structure. Less spaghetti behind the scenes, more football on the screen.
NEW IN VERSION 1.1
Improved Face Editor
The in-game GUI has received a big update.
The Face Server now automatically detects the players currently available in FM26 and shows their actual names in the editor.
And the best part:
Click a player and the camera goes directly to him.
No more flying around the pitch for five minutes thinking:"Where the hell is Ruben van Bommel?"Click his name, the camera finds him, focuses on his head and you can immediately start editing. You can also switch directly between players, which makes checking and adjusting several faces much faster.
New internal construction
A large part of the Face Server has been reorganized and optimized.Player detection, faces, hair, eyes, protected packages, the camera and editor now have a much cleaner internal structure. Face loading has also been improved and heavier work is handled more efficiently, especially when many Footy faces are being used at the same time.
In simple FootyShoe language:
less unnecessary work for the PC, more time for FM to lose 1-0 against a team with one shot on target.
FROM THE PREVIOUS VERSION
Everything that was already available is of course still there:
Custom 3D player faces
Protected .footyplayer packages
Custom face textures
Custom eyes with individual positioning and scaling
Custom hairstyles
Hair position, rotation, scale and colour adjustments
Face position, rotation and scaling
Player-specific configurations
In-game Face Editor
Save and reload player adjustments
Footy Face database support
So nothing has disappeared. We just gave the engine underneath it a good shake and taught the editor a few very useful new tricks.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Feature wise, the Face Server is now pretty much where I want it to be.I don't want to keep adding features just because technically we can.The next area I may look at in the future is face texture optimization.
The goal is to get even more detail into the textures and especially improve player recognition during normal gameplay. For me that is much more important.
I want you to watch a match from a normal FM camera and recognize a player from his head shape, face, hairstyle and overall appearance, without needing to zoom the camera into his nostrils to see who it is.
That is where I want the focus to be.
P.S. And no, not blinking eyes. :)
Yes, blinking eyes are technically a nice little detail. But from the normal camera I use to actually play Football Manager, I can't even see if the player has his eyes open, never mind whether he blinked three seconds ago.So I would rather spend my time making a player actually look like the player from normal match distance.
If one day FM introduces a staring contest camera, I promise I will reconsider. :)
For now:
Footy Face Server 1.1 is ONLINE.
Enjoy!
