pancakeswitch - Max Level Dragon Princess, Chapter 126: The Former Rulers Step Into The Nightmare Realm
About This Title

Louis looked at the message that had just appeared in front of him.
“Looks like preparing this much was indeed necessary,” he said. “We’ve been investing in these lifeforms for a while through the VPI, and even then there’s still a lot left for us to find out.”
“Elizabeth…!” Benladra cried, staring hard at the blackness beyond the barrier. “Is she alright?”
“She’s alive,” Louis answered while keeping both hands firmly on the barrier. “I wish I could go in myself, but this barrier… Only I can maintain it. If I break through into the Nightmare, the barrier will collapse completely. Mother, father, you must go in my stead.”
“I guessed as much,” Benladra nodded. She stretched her arms and cracked her knuckles. “It’s time for my combat armor.”
FLASH!
Golden Valkyrie-like armor suddenly manifested around Queen Benladra’s body. A divine spear of pure holy light descended from the skies and landed firmly in her hand. It was her ancient cosmic relic, forged by her own father when she was still a child, and it had continued to grow stronger alongside her over the years.
“And what about you, dear?” Benladra asked, turning to her husband.
“I’m fine the way I am,” Gustav replied. He generated a thin gravitational barrier around his body. “Don’t worry. Underneath these normal clothes I’m already wearing equipment that lets me survive and breathe even in outer space. I’ll be fine.”
Benladra nodded once more. She glanced at the barrier one last time, then stepped through it together with her husband, entering the darkness beyond.
FLUOSH!
The moment Gustav and Benladra crossed the threshold, they immediately felt an overwhelming wave of malefic nightmare essence trying to infect them. Both of them held their ground and pushed the corruption back with ease using their own Auras. Benladra’s Divine Aura burned brightly, while Gustav’s Psychic Aura proved more than sufficient for the task.
When they fully arrived, the entire Nightmare Realm was already trembling. Massive floating islands were breaking apart and exploding into fragments all around them.
The nightmares they had expected to fight had been reduced dramatically in number. A large portion of them had already been killed.
“Looks like a lot has happened since we started the evacuation,” Gustav observed.
“But how? It has barely been a few minutes! We moved as fast as we possibly could!” Benladra said, her voice filled with confusion.
Gustav, a master of Gravity, could sense the flow of time with unusual sharpness. His eyes narrowed as he expanded his power outward in every direction without hesitation.
“Time Dilation!”
With a quiet click of his tongue, he spread his authority across the entire pocket dimension in a matter of seconds. Gravity itself froze in place, and not a single being could move freely anymore.
“!!!”
Elizabeth, who had been falling after the Nightmare Core exploded, suddenly found herself floating in place as if the gravity of the entire realm had been denied.
“What…!” Priest Soma looked around in confusion. His underlings and the rest of the church members lost all of their previous momentum and hung motionless in the air.
“Weren’t we falling just now?” Gigantia asked in disbelief, glancing left and right. “We’re… floating?”
“This is…!” Vlad immediately recognized the source of the power. “King Gustav’s authority!”
While everyone remained suspended, the skies above them began to tremble. A blinding flash of light descended from above.
All remaining darkness, nightmares, and nightmare essence started being purged rapidly from every direction.
“T-The Nightmare Realm…!” Soma muttered. “They’re here…!”
Even the Priest looked surprised, and a faint trace of fear crossed his face at the arrival of the two newcomers.
In a last act of desperation he extended a giant black hand toward Elizabeth, trying to drag her toward him before it was too late.
“If they’re here, I must take a hostage or else—”
SLASH!
A blinding beam of light pierced straight through the black hand before it could reach Elizabeth.
A scream of agony echoed from the “mother” behind Soma. In the next moment he witnessed the descent of a true goddess.
She was someone who had remained mostly dormant during the years he had walked through and terrorized Frostbane in the past.
Now that she was fully awake, she had no intention of allowing this bastard to continue his work.
“Q-Queen… Queen Benladra…” Soma whispered, a strained smile forming on his face.
She stood there in the empty air, wearing a complete set of golden armor and holding her divine spear. Her figure was enormously tall and majestic, radiating pure divinity of the highest grade.
Her divinity was so vast that it seemed to twinkle like distant stars, forming a faint nebula of shifting colors behind her. Her blazing gold eyes locked onto Soma with clear contempt and controlled anger.
“You are the one behind this, aren’t you?” she asked.
“Grandma…!” Elizabeth called out, relief filling her voice. “You came…”
Benladra turned and smiled warmly at her granddaughter. “I’m proud of you, Elizabeth. You’ve survived this far, and you even managed to save as many people as you could. Well done. You’ve done everything within your power. But this part? Just leave it to the adults, my dear.”
“…!” Elizabeth looked back at Soma, who appeared completely frozen in place.
His retainers quickly gathered around him and began forming a defensive formation. Abyssal darkness surged outward as the black gate behind Soma expanded further, revealing the crying face of a monstrous giantess made of countless arms and hands — the Abyssal Mother, or at least an Incarnation shaped in her image.
“They’re the Church of the Abyssal Mother, Your Majesty!” Gigantia called out. “They’ve returned! They tried to kidnap Princess Elizabeth and they’re the ones behind this entire disaster! They likely fed Alfrion the Nightmare Vestige!”
“…” Benladra’s gaze remained fixed on them, her expression calm but filled with growing anger. “Is that so? You… Wait. I remember you.”
“!!!”
Soma fell completely silent. A cold chill ran down his spine as he felt the Former Queen Benladra’s growing wrath.
