The Wing Clipper
Mori Kangisa is a veteran harpy hunter of the Karukut, a race of rabbit-bodied quadrupedal humanoids native to Wyvernview Valley. She was among several warriors dispatched to the elven kingdom of Aellion under an alliance with the tribes of the Dawn Spine. Though already skilled in hunting harpies, Mori adapted her people's talents to a different kind of warfare. She organized and trained the Shurrin, an elite heavy cavalry unit whose members wear armor comparable to that of barded warhorses. Unlike conventional cavalry, the Karukut require no mounts, relying on their natural speed and agility to charge through dense forests and rough terrain. Their ability to make sharp turns and powerful leaps allows them to break enemy formations, launch ambushes, and overcome obstacles that would hinder ordinary cavalry. Even flying mounts are not safe within reach of their tremendous leaps, as Shurrin warriors can spring into the air to bring down unsuspecting riders.
The Shurrin retain their traditional whistling weapons, designed to produce piercing shrieks when swung, intimidating and disorienting enemies as they charge. Mori herself favors a billhook polearm called the Wing Clipper, originally fashioned to drag harpies from the sky. She has since mastered its use against cavalry, employing its hooked blade to unseat riders, topple mounts, and wrench away shields and armor. Feared as both a commander and a formidable combatant, Mori is known among her people by the same name as her favored weapon: the Wing Clipper.
