Alessandro Guidi Fotografo - Smeralda – First Take - [15:20]
About This Title
ITA

Smeralda finally makes her Cinematic Tuesday debut, and the moment you see her moving on set, you immediately recognize that same natural ease that the photographs could only hint at. The laughter comes without being forced, the poses change effortlessly, and between one shot and the next you can already feel how quickly that first meeting became surprisingly easy, relaxed and spontaneous.
Those who have already seen Off Script will recognize part of this shoot, but in video those images take on a completely different dimension: now Smeralda is there, in motion, while everything takes shape in front of the camera.
And there is also something you have not yet seen on the page: the video moves into a second, still unreleased set, offering the very first glimpse of its atmosphere.
First Take is available in full to FANATICs: this time you are not only looking at Smeralda’s photographs — you are stepping onto the set with us.

Buongiorno miei carissimi FANATICs!

Good morning my dear FANATICs!
I can finally take you inside my first shoot with Smeralda in video form, and watching First Take again, what strikes me most is how natural everything felt almost immediately.
The atmosphere was relaxed: we talked, laughed, little jokes kept happening, and then, almost without a real break, we would go straight back to shooting. It is funny because it was the first time we had ever worked together, yet in several moments of the video it almost feels like the opposite. I think that is exactly what makes this backstage so enjoyable to watch: beyond the poses and the photographs, it also preserves the way that first shoot actually happened.
And here I have to tell you a little detail you could never know just from watching the video. That day I arrived at the studio with only about five minutes to spare before Smeralda, and in the rush to finish setting everything up, I forgot to switch on the microphone.
I actually have the whole sequence of her entering the studio and our very first greetings… completely silent. I was genuinely sorry to lose it, because it would have been a lovely opening for this video, but rather than trying to hide the problem with music or an artificial edit, I decided to remove it and take you straight into the first set.
You will recognize Off Script, which you have already seen in photographs, but the video also includes part of another set that has not yet appeared on the page. Looking back at those first sequences is interesting because Smeralda begins with very measured, refined images, yet the way she interprets the poses already shows a freedom and confidence that would go on to characterize the rest of the shoot.
Most importantly, here you can see what the finished photographs cannot show you: the conversations, the laughter, the directions during the shoot and all those small transitions that turn a pose into the image you later see on the page.
There is one thing I am genuinely curious about this time: do you prefer a Cinematic Tuesday like this, very close to the reality of the shoot and full of spontaneous moments, or the more constructed, cinematic edits? They are two very different ways of showing you what happens in the studio, and I would really like to know which one makes you feel more like you are there with us.
