About This Title
Here are three more remarkable Barrios moves that I think are so good you could turn each one into an exercise of its own!
I found an original audio recording of Agustín Barrios playing La Catedral himself. Barrios was also a true pioneer of guitar recording. He was among the very first classical guitarists to embrace the gramophone, making his earliest recordings around 1913.
We'll start with two beautiful examples from the Allegro solemne of La Catedral, using Barrios' own recording. After that, you'll hear Schroeder playing part of the main theme from Una limosna por el amor de Dios — another wonderful example of Barrios' approach to harmony and voice leading.
And of course, I've included fretboard animations showing the precise fingerings for all three examples.
By the end of this week, the Barrios project should finally be finished, leaving some time for more chromatic scale and diminished phrasing exercises.
I hope you'll enjoy these little gems. There's so much to learn from this guy!
