About This Title

Here are the tabs I wrote for the Barrios video, now available as printable PDFs for you!

They include three excerpts from the main themes of:

Una Limosna por el Amor de Dios

La Catedral – III. Allegro Solemne

Estudio de Concierto

I've also included the fretboard animation of Vals No. 3, accompanied by an original recording of Barrios himself. This one only appears at the very end of the latest video, but it could easily have been the highlight of the entire project. I hear some really beautiful contrary-motion voice leading in there that reminds me of Barry Harris. I like it so much that I'm seriously considering turning it into a separate video.

So, what's next?

I've got several projects lined up:

Barry Harris Chromatic Scale + Diminished Scale – combining the two for some interesting phrasing ideas.

Barney Kessel's Thirds – exploring his approach to harmonizing melodies in thirds.

Raphael Rabello's arrangement of Jobim's Samba do Avião – continuing our investigation of his incredible playing.

Django Reinhardt's Diminished and Chromatic Phrasing

I'm not entirely sure which one to make first. After all, the Barrios project took me a little further away from jazz than I originally intended! So let me know which of these topics interests you most. Your feedback really does help me decide where to go next.

Have fun with the PDFs!
