JBReverse - Episode 2 Progress Report(9.15)
infoAbout This Title
Hey everyone,
Let's get straight into it. The music replacement is going pretty well. I've settled on 59 tracks so far, and the one playing in this post is one of them. Really love the vocals, warm and a little sad. It feels right for Helaine's story. There are also quite a few tracks left to replace in some key scenes further on, just haven't found the right track yet.
I've also been redoing a lot of renders because of the visual upgrades I mentioned before. A little over 160 redone so far, plus 43 new ones. I'm currently at the dorm party scene, almost halfway through. Most of redoes are pretty straightforward. Open the old scene, apply the new settings, work from there. The dorm party takes a bit more work. Lots of characters, lots going on, and the scenes are heavy as hell. I'm talking about ridiculously long loading and frequent crashes, really fuxk me in the ass. Still stuck there for now.
Going back through the scenes has brought up other things too. I'll be checking one and realize the original writing doesn't quite work. Something doesn't make sense, or doesn't fit very well with what I wrote later. Like Helaine's storyline. My little music-and-render pass has slowly turned into script rewrites and new scenes. That's where those 43 new renders come in, so things will connect properly. It's a bit depressing to look back at your own ideas and planning and realize they were lame.
Don't know if you've heard about Warcraft just got a new new update. Felt a little familiar. Trying very hard to salvage something you messed up the first time around :(Another thing bothering me is that some of the old renders look pretty rough next to the new ones now. The eyes are the biggest giveaway. I honestly never noticed everyone's eye colors look that glowy until I switched to the new visual setup, and now I can't unsee it. I'm trying to find an easy way to bring the old ones a little closer to the new ones. Hopefully something that doesn't involve me manually Photoshopping every pair of eyes in the game.
That's pretty much what I've been up to this past month. Back to work for me. I'll keep you guys posted.
