About This Title

Another addition to my sports helmet lineup! This time, it's a Hockey Goalie Helmet, joining my existing football and baseball helmets.

This one has been requested quite a few times, and it's a project I've been meaning to tackle for quite a while. I'm glad to finally have it finished and added to the collection!

Design & Scale

This helmet was modeled after an actual hockey goalie helmet, with the goal of staying as close to the real thing as possible. The shell geometry closely follows the original helmet, and I've included a separate face cage, mounting clips, and fasteners to complete the look.

I originally designed the helmet at 1:1 scale, based on a medium/large helmet with a hat size of approximately 7–7½.

However, the included build plate has everything scaled down to 60%, bringing it to approximately the same scale as my football and baseball helmets. If you print all three using my saved build plates, they'll be reasonably proportioned to one another and make a great matching collection.

You can also adjust the scale to suit your needs.

Printing & Assembly

Just like my football helmets, I wanted this one to be a complete 3D printed assembly without needing any additional hardware.

Here's how it breaks down:

Helmet Shell: Prints as a single piece with supports.

Face Cage: Prints as a single piece with supports.

Mounting Clips: Separate printed components.

Fasteners: Printed fasteners that press into place to secure the cage to the helmet.

No glue, screws, or additional hardware required!

Once everything is printed and supports are removed, the cage attaches to the shell using the printed clips and press-fit fasteners.

Make It Your Own!

One of the things I really like about these sports helmets is how much you can do with colors. Whether you're matching your favorite team's colors, creating something completely custom, or putting together a matching set of sports helmets, there's plenty of room to get creative.

The separate shell and cage also give you some flexibility to mix and match colors without needing to paint anything.

And with football, baseball, and now hockey represented, the sports helmet collection is continuing to grow!

A Few Final Notes

Although this helmet was modeled at full scale and closely follows the geometry of a real helmet, it's a decorative 3D printed model, not functional protective equipment. It is not intended for actual hockey use or impact protection.

As always, I appreciate the requests and suggestions that help drive these projects. This one sat on my list for quite a while, but I'm really happy to finally bring it into the lineup.

Enjoy the print, and I'd love to see what color combinations you come up with!
