Damage Mechanics

Piggies

Pigs are the second type of wild creature that you will find in the forest. For gameplay reasons the boars are males, the big pigs are females, and the piglets are whatever (Too lazy to make a boar piglet).

Boars will be very defensive of their kin and will alert and make everyone start panicking within a radius (to be shown in the next video). Mama pigs are just big fat walking hunks of meat. Piglets are tiny but fast.

It is already quite challenging trying to take down even a single one of these beasts. Even with 20 wolf pups it can take a while. Therefore I will be implementing mechanics such that if they run into a tree, they will be stunned so that the player or the pups can go in and do damage. You can also use the shovel to make trenches around them, but this is laborious. A special building trap or something is required...

A boar drops 15 meat, a piglet drops 5, and a pig drops 20!

Husbandry will be implemented soon. They will require hay bedding like chickens but eventually I will move to requiring mud so that it's more realistic (and to expand gameplay). Given they drop lots of meat, it will be very challenging to get them into your farm alive. Mud will be formed with rain. More on this later.

Damage Mechanics

So now we're getting into the nitty gritty health mechanics for your wolf pups and yourself as well. Yes the player has health.

For the player, my take is this: You can't die but you can get knocked out cold for several hours which eats away at daytime and thus makes it harder for you to complete your daily father chores WHICH ultimately makes mama wolf angry. That could eventually cause a game over from the wolf mama's anger.

As for the little ones, they have health but I haven't quite planned yet how I want to handle their health mechanics. The reason is that their design is much different than yours: you are one and they can be in the literal thousands. Therefore it needs to be something scalable and still fun to do.

I would have finished many more pig behavior mechanics but I literally lost internet for 4 days this week. Sh*t happens.

Stay tuned!
