About This Title
Here is a new PDF for an older video called Nut Job Triads. It has been requested a few times, and the PDFs I made before never included the actual phrase from the intro of the video. You can now see that movement written out in two keys — C major and F major — before the exercises begin on page 2. To my ears, the whole idea sounds more like a classical exercise than a jazz phrase.
There are two PDFs attached to this post. The first is the new Nut Job Triads PDF, which includes the intro phrase and the exercises from the video. The second is my complete guide to harmony using 1–6–10 voicings. The Nut Job Triads exercise is based on the method explained in that guide, so the two PDFs work well together.
As for the next steps in the Schubert Ständchen project: on Monday I’ll post the fretboard animation with the melody highlighted. That should help us understand a little better how Mertz built the solo guitar arrangement around Schubert’s melody. After that, I’ll compare Ana Vidovic’s performance with Mertz’s original score to see exactly what she is playing and whether she made any changes. Then it’s time to animate Froggy and tie the whole project together into the final video.
Have a great weekend and see you on Monday,Alex
