Jays Wintry Mix - Looking ahead-Concerns about next weekend
About This Title
The Nor'easter will be pulling away soon. But we may have new weekend trouble to talk about and we will discuss that a bit below. I am already seeing signs that this El Nino is going to be wild with storms so hang on lol. As far this storm, in the big scheme of things, we got grazed by it much like it was predicted. DC and points east got decent rain. West of DC was pretty paltry.
Looking at my raindrop app....unofficial of course but here is what i have so far in random places.
Winchester .10 Leesburg .12, Lovettsville .27 , Alexandria .65, DCA .57, Ocean city, 1.20, Cape May 2.84, Baltimore.83, Dover 2.39, Surf City NJ 6 inches, NYC 1.92, Bourne, MA(near cape Cod) 6.31.
So what will this week feature? a few things
1) A monster rain event for the heartland of the country. And they desperately needed it. Will that rain affect us by this weekend? Possibly. Most Likely but the timing is TBD
2) A big warming by the middle of next week. I posted about this several times but we could flirt with 80s again. However I don't think it will have super staying power and within 10 days of this--we could be back to a colder regime where lows hit the upper 30s. But Thursday has the look of mid to upper 80s. Wow.
3) There is a wet signal for next weekend..... however a couple of things i have noticed over the past 24 hours. Its trending more to Sunday or Sunday night/Monday. So i still think Saturday will be fine but Sunday is where trouble could start
the EURO AI has a substantial rain event on Sunday
the 12z euro holds off till Monday
the ensembles seem to like Sunday night/Monday more
so in summary 24 hours ago--i was worried about a Saturday afternoon to Sunday rain event. Now it may be delayed 24 hours but confidence is low. But i do think we see some kind of storm. The timing is still ETA but the rain from the Central US has to go somewhere. Going to be a busy winter
